Explanation:
Diesen Begriff habe ich zwar nirgends gefunden.

Aber meine Überlegungen sind:
groove = u.a. Walzenkaliber: DE VRIES
groove = u.a. Kaliber (Walzwerk): LANGENSCHEIDT
groove = u.a. Kaliber (Walzwerk): ERNST

Meine Recherchen haben ergeben, dass ein Kaliber eine Viertiefung in einer Walzwerkwalze ist, um ein Profil zu walzen.

Gemäss Frage ist Walzendurchmesser minus Arbeitsdurchmesser = Groove Factor

Das ist jedoch die Kalibertiefe, die je nach Profil sehr variabel sein kann und hier deshalb eben Kaliberfaktor genannt wird.

Zu "Kalibertiefe" mit Bild gebe man <"Kalibertiefe" "Walzwerk"> in den Google ein und wähle "Neue Verfahrentechniken in der Eisen- und Stahlindustrie". Dort gehe man auf Bild 53 auf Seite 116.

Fazit:
groove factor (hier) = Kalibertiefe, hier Kaliberfaktor genannt.
