English term or phrase: loot box
Definition from WhatIs.com:
In video games, a loot box is an in-game purchase consisting of a virtual container that awards players with items and modifications based on chance. Loot boxes are considered to be a type of microtransaction.

Example sentence(s):
  • Przybylski also said that blanket regulation of video games with loot box mechanics as gambling would be "apocalyptically stupid," as this would essentially mean slapping an 18+ label on a wide range of games aimed at children, such as "Fortnite" and "FIFA." Business Insider
  • Loot boxes aren’t needed to play the games in which they appear – but their contents can still be very tempting to a child. Getting a ‘legendary skin’ from a Fortnite loot box can be a significant status symbol. ParentZone
  • If player-centric justifications for adding loot boxes ring false, then we must look closely at how and why publishers are successfully integrating these economies into their games. DigitalTrends

No  Andreas Fischer: Sorry to disagree but this is not a translation! To translate (latin: transferre) means to transfer the expression into the other language (so that ordinary people there understand it) and not to simply leave the expression as it is in English :-(

  -> Oh, sorry. I am afraid then, there is no possibility to add this term to the glossary, if "Lootbox" does not meet YOUR criteria of a valid translation, even if commonly and almost uniquely used in the gaming world, as all and other references show.

Yes  Susanne Gläsel: Das muss Loot-Lama heißen! ;) (https://www.pcgameshardware.de/Fortnite-Spiel-16272/News/Kla...
