Im Ausgangstext geht es um Küchen, deren Eigenschaften teils sehr bidhaft beschrieben werden. An einer Stelle wird kurz auf Türen eingegangen, die für eine bestimmte Küche charakteristisch sein sollen:

"Its membrane swells and changes shape thanks to lots of little ridges that create *outward thrusts*, giving you the impression of pulsating life"

Ich bin mir nicht sicher, was das Eingesternte genau sein soll. Wenn ich die "ridges" als Erhebungen verstehe, dann vielleicht Außendrücke, oder welche Benennung ist hier die richtige?

Can't help myself... that's what it sounds like. There is little reson to assume that the "outward thrust" is directed laterally to the edges of the door blade, which would increase its dimensions and make the door stick . In the extreme case, it would become unopenable.

agree  Kim Metzger: I think your translation is OK, but don't agree with your explanation. It would only swell if it were made of wood. This door is made of aluminum and other metals.
