The silvicultural method that gradually removes the trees from a given stand by a series of partial cuttings over a relatively short period of time. Eventually all overstory trees are removed, resulting in an even-aged stand.

Der Schirmschlag ist eine bestimmte Methode der Waldverjüngung.

Auf der zu bewirtschaftenden Waldfläche werden so viele Bäume einzeln entnommen, dass nur noch ein Schirm aus Überhältern stehen bleibt. Auf der freien Bodenfläche darunter entwickelt sich Jungwuchs. Durch den Schirm ist er geschützt vor übermäßiger Sonnen- und Windexposition.
