Within the context of tracer tests I would translate injection well as Schluckbrunnen and well as Messstelle.

Now, in an article about Tracer tests, I've run across Zugabebrunnen for injection well, which would remove the ambiguity of using bohrung and brunnen interchangably, but I think I will stick with Messstelle for the observation wells, because it is more about their function than their construction. Any thoughts on Zugabebrunnen vs. Injektionsbohrung?

we are talking about some kind of groundwater management (e.g. drawdown, heat pumps) or reinjection of refined/treated groundwater, "Schluckbrunnen" would be absolutely correct. But if your text is about injection of specific conditioned water (as it sounds to me), my choice would be "Injektionsbohrung". It depends on the overall context.

Here is some context with "injection well"

It was determined that the geochemistry in the **injection wells** and the area immediately surrounding the injection wells met the required conditions but that the reducing conditions had not spread throughout the ERD recirculation area."

And here is some context with just "well" referring to the same wells:

"Approximately 250-L of anoxic water was injected into each injected **well** and the balance was injected the following day (approximately 2,850 L total injected into each well)."

I hesitate to use "Schluckbrunnen" for injection well in this case, because that seems to imply wastewater injection (not sure about that), but this is not what is happening here. If it's clear that Bohrung refers to wells in this context rather than change my terminology for injection wells.

IMHO is correct. Brunnen you can use for "groundwater well"-
