je ne comprends pas "to the ship board" dans la phrase suivante :
Interaction of the objects within the contact area is determined by the force normal to the ship board and the friction forces.
Je serais très heureux d'avoir une explication, voire une traduction...

coque étant le terme plus générale bordé est plus spécifique cela dépend de "the contact area"

Asker: vous avez sûrement raison mais j'avoue que l'anglais ne paraît pas très "technique" ici. Partout ailleurs, on parle bien de ship's hull...

Asker: merci, je me demandais surtout si l'on voulait réellement dire la coque...

agree  Tony M: The EN is perfectly techincal: the 'board' is simply the 'side wall' of the ship (at any specified point), and 'normal to' means 'at 90° (in 3D). I think here 'bordé' is the exact term required.
