French translation:entrer/pénétrer dans la zone d'opération d'une machine
Explanation:
in this context the key point is what's behind "the plane of a machine" - a danger zone where moving parts or projections of liquids / gases can seriously hurt you.

As this is supposed to be a "one-fit-all" translation for all sorts of machinery, I think it's better to shift the focus on the key element - the danger zone that's behind this "plane"

possibly:

passer à travers / (rompre?) le plan délimitant la zone d'opération d'une machine

in any case, just "rompre le plan de la machine" is not enough
