Hello, just for fun, so no emergency.

I'm translating "Bog Queen" from Seamus Heaney. The corpse of an ancient Vicking woman, probably a queen, is being unearthed from a peat bog. She wears a sash, of phoenician fabric.

How would you translate it, is there some specific term? I would really enjoy to read your views and knowledge.

Here's an analysis-I'm reading it just now, after the translation's done, so that I have not been influenced, but then, worked shortened of any clue :-)

Explanation:
I had a brief look at the reference work you are using and think that you would be well advised to find a better analysis. Ideally, you should look at a number of texts about the poem, not just one. Personally, I'd ditch the one you are using.

Asker: Hello BD Finch, I'm closing this at last (forgotten). Thank you for your frank words. In fact I have not really read a lot about the poem, just to get a minimum of context about where this queen came from, about the Baltic amber. I've tried to dig words with my wee spade to uncover her skull and look at her in the orbites. So here you have my verse: "Mon voile était glacier noir/en vallées, tissages teints/et broderies phéniciennes/sur les tendres moraines/de mes seins pourrissaient." Thank you!
