CONTEXT? 20:31 Jul 18, 2017
That's why we need to know how it ie being used in context, Asker! Generally, 'scallop' may simplistically be guessed as being 'pétoncle', IF it is being opposed to 'queen scallop' (Saint-Jacques); BUT if there is no opposition, one has to assume that the more generic term is going to be Saint-Jacques. BUT this is only a very rough rule-of-thumb guide, and depending on the context, you could get into hot water if you got it wrong and causedd someone legal problems. The only safe solution is to ask the writer — or, if that option is not available, then at least report the ambiguity to your customer. |
