English term or phrase: and for so doing this shall be my warrant
Il s'agit d'une Licence de mariage américaine. Je ne sais pas trop s'il existe déjà une traduction de la phrase ci-dessus ?
Merci d'avance pour votre aide

Bonjour Lucia28,

cette formule assez ancienne veut dire que le document donne tel ou tel droit à la personne à laquelle il est déstiné et qui l'a en main.

"I do hereby authorise and empower you by yourself or any other person or persons to borrow on behalf of the United States, within the said States or elsewhere a sum or sums not exceeding in the whole, three hundred and thirty two thousand six hundred & eighty six Dollars and twenty Cents, and to make or cause to be made for that purpose such Contract or Contracts as shall be necessary, and for the interest of the said States in conformity to the said several acts subject to the restrictions and limitations therein respectively contained; and also to this further restriction, that the United States shall have a right to reimburse the principal & interest of the monies which shall be borrowed in pursuance hereof, at the end of the present year or as soon thereafter as they shall think fit. And for so doing this shall be your sufficient warrant."

"Our will and pleasure is that the execution be done at the usual place of execution, on Friday next, the seventh day of this instant November, and for so doing this shall be your warrant."

neutral  Daryo: that's roughly the idea, but translating just a fragment of a sentence without having any idea what's the rest of it sounds ... courageous?

-> You are absolutely right, Daryo, I should have provided at least a little context, which I have done now. Thank you for your suggestion!

neutral  Germaine: Cf. discussion + Reste à démêler le "my-your"...

neutral  Eliza Hall: Good but I'm with Germaine: VOUS confère les pouvoirs...

agree  B D Finch: I don't understand the objections about the pronoun, seeing as you are translating the header term as posted by the Asker. It's neater in French than in (US) English.

-> Yes, thank you! The asker wishes to have "my warrant" translated, which is, of course, "me confère".
