Too metabolically expensive: refers to something that consumes a lot of the energy that an organism requires for survival.

سلام،
یعنی اینکه انجام این امور نیازمند صرف انرژی زیادی است یا برای انجام این امور باید واکنشهای سوخت‌وساز یا متابولیسمی
زیادی در بدن صورت بگیرد. یعنی از نظر واکنشهای متابولیسمی که برای انجام این امور لازم است به صرفه نیست.
