In photography, a blurred effect, resembling a halo, usually occurring in the highlight areas or around bright objects.

halo, (via lat. fra gr. halos 'kredsformet tærskeplads, runding'), i fotografisk sammenhæng det tab af kontrast, der opstår ved belysning af en film, når lys spredes fra en lysere del af motivet til en mørkere. Det samme fænomen optræder ved kopiering af negativet i forstørrelsesapparat. Halo dannes dels ved refleksion i selve emulsionen, dels ved refleksion fra den base, emulsionen er gydet på. Det modvirkes gennem emulsionens opbygning og med specielle antihaleringslag.
