Relatively strong winds that are concentrated in a narrow band in the atmosphere. Jet Streams are usually thousands of kilometers long, hundreds of kilometers wide but only a few kilometers thick. They are usually found between 6 and 10 miles above the surface.

Tryskové proudění (jet stream) je silné proudění vzduchu ve tvaru zploštělé trubice, které se zpravidla vyskytuje ve výškách okolo 10 km a je charakterizováno nejen velkými rychlostmi, ale i velkými horizontálními a vertikálními změnami rychlosti větru. Podle definice musí být rychlost větru uvnitř jet streamu vyšší než 30 m/s (108 km/h), horizontální střih větru alespoň 5 m/s na 100 km a vertikální střih větru 5 až 10 m/s na 1 km
