English term or phrase: Third Mate
"When the Exxon Valdez cast off from the Alyeska Pipeline Terminal
on the evening of March 23, the voyage began routinely. An expert
ship’s pilot guided the vessel through the Valdez Narrows and then
returned control of the ship to its captain, Joe Hazelwood. The captain
ordered that the ship be put on a particular course, turned
control over to Third Mate Gregory Cousins, and left the bridge.
Thirty-five minutes later, the Exxon Valdez was stranded on a reef and
leaking tons of oil into the sea."

I am translating this text into Arabic. I need an Arabic translation to the title "Third Mate" as I only found an explanation to it on Wikipedia (here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_mate) and couldn't find it in the dictionaries.

Thanks!
