RMP Certificate 19:55 Jun 16, 2020
The standard RMP certificate is a 6 month long course during which students are educated (for one month each) on six different areas. These areas include pathology, anatomy, surgery, OB-GYN, pharmacology and medicine. Understandably, there isn’t much that can be taught on any of these topics within a month The certificate does NOT grant medical practitioners the ability to prescribe medication. While it trains them to deal with certain complex situations like child birth or severe injuries, it is always highly recommended that they refer such cases to doctors and intervene ONLY if there is no other alternative, as in the case of emergencies. Even in such cases, the RMP should only administer first aid and then refer to the nearest doctor. To sum up: Medical practitioner is a non-specific term that includes in addition to physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and others with different educational backgrounds and licensed by the states to practice medicine, usually in a more limited or supervised fashion. |
