In Al-Mawrid "topping" is translated as
طبقة علوية تجعل على قرص من الحلوى أو المعجنات أو المرطبات
This is a descriptive translation. It is too long and won't fit in the limited space. Is there a one-word term in Arabic used in the dessert trade. Can I use كساء followed by the name of fruit such as كساء المشمش?

Open any cooking book , and you'll find that "topping" as always referred to as تغليفة. It's so either in covering the top surface only, the sides, or both of them.

It's named after what it's made of: تغليفة السكر/ تغليفة الشيكولاتة/ تغليفة الكرز ... and so on
