مكحلة Explanation: The pointing of tiles is the process of filling the gaps between them with mortar. It is similar to grouting. It has different names in different Arab regions. The term I know is تكحيل. If you google "pointing" and تكحيل together, you will find many references. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 6 hrs (2020-05-30 18:26:50 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- The reason pointing is called تكحيل is that it has the effect of defining the borders of each tile and making it stand out in the same way that kohl defines the outlines of eyes and makes them stand out. Of course, that is not the main purpose of pointing, but it has that effect. |
