Bedankt. Wel, bij nader inzien lijkt het erop, Michael, dat je het toch nog zo geregeld hebt dat de term NIET in de zogenaamde open glossary terecht is gekomen. Wat is daar de reden voor? En hoe doe je dat überhaupt.?

Thanks for sharing your end client's feedback. 'Barring' any further information that would suggest otherwise, that settles it then :-). As far as I'm concerned, the points should still go to Lianne for being the first to come up with the key term 'rocker'.

My client asked the end client, who said all of my proposals (below) are correct. In the end, I therefore stuck with "rocker bar", rather than "rocker sole", although to be honest I forgot to ask them if "rocker sole" was also correct.

afwikkeling = heel-to-toe gait
afrollen = heel-to-toe gait
afrolpatroon = roll-off pattern
afwikkelbalk = rocker bar
voetafrol = foot roll-off

This company makes very specific adjustments to running shoes, and when they say inside the midsole (tussenzool), they really mean it: they mean, they cut open the entire shoe and stick something inside of it, rather than glue something to the very bottom of the shoe (i.e., to/under the "outer sole"). This is why I am not 100% sold on "rocker sole", as I think this implies it is under the shoe, rather than something that they can insert inside of the midsole.

Also, looking at Kitty's great ref (http://www.bondshoeandfoot.com/therapeutic-modifications ) with clear pictures, it seems the term "bar" is used (rather than sole) when they are built into the midsole. "A JONES BAR is placed between the insole and the outsole." etc.

my thinking is: afwikkelbalk > balk > "bar"?

Not sure yet, but my client was kind enough to allow me to prepare a list of difficult terms, which she will then pass on to the client. If they get back to me, I'll make sure to report back here!

Ik denk dat tussen of onder de zool in dit geval niet relevant is, en dat het vooral niet om een inlegzool gaat. 'In schoenen' (i.e. in het schoenontwerp opnemen) is algemeen bedoeld en niet letterlijk IN de schoen.

So I gave the bold bit, but not the non-bold bit in my question:

But if the "afwikkelbalk" is placed inside of the midsole ("in de tussenzool"), this seems to contradict:

Een aanpassing die vaak voorkomt is de afwikkelbalk. Als u loopt maakt uw voet een rollende beweging, dit heet afwikkelen. Hierbij buigt u uw voet en de schoen buigt mee. Door verschillende oorzaken kan dit buigen van de voet pijnlijk zijn.

Een afwikkelbalk is een soort 'wipwap' onder uw schoen die zorgt dat uw voet kan afwikkelen zonder dat u uw voet hoeft te buigen. De afwikkelbalk is rond aan de onderkant en op het dikste punt kan hij niet buigen. Als u loopt, draait de afwikkelbalk soepel over dit dikste punt zonder dat uw gewrichten hoeven te buigen. Een oplossing voor veel zere voeten.
