If your target is American, I would just mention the grades corresponding to the Dutch middenbouw range rather than translate the word.

neutral  Kitty Brussaard: This is not about Dutch primary education but about the age groups/divisions used in the context of Dutch youth football: under 19s (bovenbouw), under 15s (middenbouw) and under 10s (onderbouw).

As far as I can see, 'bovenbouw' in this specific context would be the equivalent of 'under 20s' / 'under 19s' (A- en B-junioren), 'middenbouw' would be 'under 15s' (C-junioren en D-pupillen) and 'onderbouw' would be 'under 10s' (E- en F-pupillen and the so-called <minipupillen).
