English translation: education aimed at dissemination of knowledge

Dutch term or phrase: kennis gericht onderwijs
In a list of achievements a scientist (or philosopher or mathmetican, etc.) must have to be included in a site:

"een markante bijdrage tot op verspreiding van kennis gericht onderwijs.
Dit laatste impliceert bijvoorbeeld dat rekenmeesters of docenten filosofie uit de tijd van de Republiek ook opgenomen zullen worden."

I've gotten no further than 'knowledge-based education'. Is there another term?

Explanation:
I think you perhaps misread the sentence. Try reading it as: "een markante bijdrage tot onderwijs gericht op verspreiding van kennis".

agree  Chris Hopley: our answers crossed! // only our choice of words is different, the interpretation/correct parsing of the Dutch is more important :-)

op verspreiding van kennis gericht onderwijs
teaching for knowledge transfer

Explanation:
Olly, I read it not as 'kennisgericht onderwijs' but rather 'onderwijs gericht op verspreiding van kennis'. This refers to the concept of teaching a man to fish rather than giving a man a fish (but not only will he eat for life, he will be able to pass his newly found skills onto others, who will also eat for life and also pass on their skills, ....). Or 'teaching for transfer'.

agree  Max Nuijens: Knowledge transfer sounds very good, and I like the story about the man and his fish, but is it the exact equivalent of the Dutch 'verspreiding van kennis'? Perhaps the equivalent is 'kennisoverdracht'?
14 mins

agree  Lianne van de Ven: Niet zozeer "verspreiding" (evangelical connotation) maar *overdracht* van kennis: "knowledge transfer" is very good, maybe with Max' education aimed at ... (transfer of knowlege)
2 hrs

agree  Neil Cross: Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit by the river and drink beer all day.

Explanation:
This gets quite a few Google hits. Your suggestion of knowledge-based education is fine too.
