Which meaning of daarvoor is intended here: 'for that purpose' or 'preceding'?

The sentence is:

door inschrijving ... op vierentwintig december ..... van een akte van levering of drieentwintig december daarvoor verleden voor mr. X, notaris

'Executed for that purpose on 23 December' or 'executed on the 23 December preceding'? Both meanings seem possible to me.

Phil is right that you execute a deed, but thanks for confirming my hunch. However, I still think 'preceding' may be the translation for daarvoor in this instance, especially as there is also a daarna in similar parts of the text where the dates fit.
