This can't be "occupancy". Can it? I thought you ought to pay taxes from day 1 whether you occupy a house or not... or am I wrong?

All this is saying is that liability for the taxes will arise upon taking possession/occupancy rather than on the date that transfer of property into the name of the purchaser (by way of execution of the deed)takes place if occupancy does not coincide with date of transfer of ownership.

YOu have to check with client-you can't take it upon yourself to make corrections to a contract.

sorry-it is take possession-working in one language and doing kudoz in another takes its toll at the end of a day. But whatever I do think the text could be clearer.
