Dutch term or phrase: de voeten in aarde moeten houden,
ik me inspireer op aarde, op klei. Waar wij de voeten in aarde moeten houden, dat is de inspiratiebron voor de nieuwe schoenen.

I know the literal meaning is to put a lot of effort in, but I'm looking for something that keeps the meaning of to be inspired by earth/ clay. Any ideas are appreciated
