traditional song Explanation: Quite hard this one. A "snijdersbank" is a song based on the following original (apparently itself an adaptation of a German song, Schnitzelbank: "A German-language ditty for children, The Schnitzelbank Song, invented by Jerry Braun, is popular among German Americans with an interest in learning or teaching German to their offspring. It is often sung by adults for entertainment and nostalgia."): "Is dat niet een snijdersbank Ja dat is een snijdersbank Is dat niet een kort en lang Ja dat is een kort en lang Een kort en lang een snijdersbank Viva viva viva een snijdersbank" Writeaway's note gives one example of such a song. I would say it is a repetitive alternation of questions and answers followed by a chorus. My suggestion would be to use traditional song for "snijdersbank" and to add an explanatory note. more info Explanation: 'snijdersbank' is apparently a direct translation of the German 'Schnitzelbank', which is the original name and form. The term 'Schnitzelbank song' is apparently used in English, although it may only be known to people with an interest in German (culture).
