(scharnier-) krozing hinge recess Explanation: Ignoring sites about Bad Krozingen ;-) I found this: -> "Alle deuren zijn standaard voorzien van een slotgatboring ... Stompe deuren zijn standaard niet voorzien van scharnierkrozingen. Scharnier krozingen zijn op aanvraag aan te brengen. " http://www.svedex.nl/technische-documentatie/index.aspx?id1=... This is presumably the recess cut into the wood to allow the hinge to sit flush on the door. -> "Cut hinge recesses (mortises). Use a chisel (carefully--see "Warnings" below) to make shallow recesses, called mortises, in the door, within the pencil marks. Strip away the surplus wood and trim the recess until the hinge is flush with the wood." http://www.wikihow.com/Hang-a-Door -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 40 mins (2010-02-24 16:23:35 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I mentioned hinge recess specifically, however, I suppose the krozingen could be for other items of door furniture too, e.g. a lock or bolt. |
