Explanation:
I've just soptted this question, so this is for ref. only.

As I recall from factory export clerking in London, commingling is also known as blending, mainly of homogeneous goods.

I'm pretty sure the UK police slang for the unlawful variety of the malpractice is called 'lacing' of consignments - which, alas, in ambiguous for tying up the goods.
