Hebzucht, ongebreidelde groei en consumptiedrift geven teveel afstand tussen arm en rijk, vernietigen onze bronnen en leveren vooralsnog meer depressie. Nieuwe waardesystemen en een betekenisecologie beginnen zich voorzichtig af te tekenen.

In het Nederlands vind ik maar 1 webpagina over "betekenisecologie", kan iemand mij helpen met een mooie term in het Engels. Bedankt.

Tot zover een nadere analyse van organisatieverandering aan de hand van de chaos-encomplexiteitstheorie. In feite heb ik de binnenkant van organisatieverandering daarbij aangeduid als een betekenisecologie, waarbij er bepaalde biotopen zijn aan te wijzen die tot het ontstaan, veranderen en bevriezen van lokale en collectieve betekenispatronen kunnen leiden. Een expliciete kanttekening die ik hierbij wil maken, is dat het bovenstaande in feite een theoretische extrapolatie is aan de hand van de gebruikte concepten en noties. Duidelijk zal zijn dat hier nog veel empirisch onderzoek over gedaan zal moeten worden om meer inzicht te krijgen in de werkelijke gang van zaken bij het ontstaan en veranderen van collectieve betekeniswolken. Aan het eind van deze oratie zal ik hiertoe dan ook de eerste aanzetten geven."

Om de relatie tussen Homan's gebruik van "betekenisecologie" en het sociaal constructivisme (en daarnee "ecology of meanings" uit de andere referenties) duidelijker te maken hieronder een citaat uit een ander deel van zijn proefschrift:

"Ook het sociaalconstructionisme en constructivisme gaan er evenals de cognitieve psychologie van uit dat mensen niet reageren op de objectieve werkelijkheid, maar op hun betekenisgeving daaraan. Er is geen universele waarheid die voor iedereen geldig is; er zijn juist even zo vele waarheden als dat er mensen zijn. De sociaal constructivisten en constructionisten verlaten echter de kluizenaarshypothese en zeggen dat mensen tot betekenisgeving komen door samen met anderen over die betekenissen te onderhandelen (vergelijk het betekenisbridge uit het vorige hoofdstuk). In feite zijn er dus minder waarheden dan dat er mensen zijn. Daarbij wordt er een onderscheid gemaakt tussen gedragingen die te maken hebben met het onderhandelen over betekenissen enerzijds (Play, zie de vorige paragraaf), en het gedrag van de betrokkenen als die betekenissen uitonderhandeld en dus (min of meer) stabiel zijn (Game, idem). disagree  Textpertise: Semantic ecology is about a construct of reality that you make with words taking precedence in your mind over what is actually happening on the ground and influencing decisions in a way which should not happen. I don't think the Asker's excerpt means this

To quote Wikipedia: "Social ecology holds that present ecological problems are rooted in deep-seated social problems, particularly in dominatory hierarchical political and social systems.   -> IMHO they are the same. Look at Asker's excerpt and Wikipedia quote together with an eye to hebzucht, consumptie, e.d. Maybe the writer of the Dutch text seeks a different term for it which nobody else uses in Dutch, but that is what it is, I feel.
