Dutch term or phrase: flexstuderen
I am currently translating a scheme regarding "flexstuderen". This term appears to be a neologism, as the collocation 'Flex" + "studeren" doesn't yet appear to be a standard term at universities in countries of the British Commonwealth, etc.

According to Wikipedia, this term can be defined as such:

Has anybody come across something similar in English yet? I look forward to your reply.

Cheers,
R.

Explanation:
Hi Robert,

I am interested in this myself and I have been reading up on flexstuderen. It definitely is a new study option that will be piloted in the Netherlands at UvA, UU and other universities in September 2017.
But it appears to be a known, albeit recent, study option in the English speaking world.

To me, it sounded a lot like contractonderwijs, but the LSVB has stated the following on the difference between the two:

bekostigde) voltijdsopleiding willen volgen in hun eigen tempo.

Hope this helps!

Hi Robert, good to hear that you have already found the solution! The points don't matter much to me. The term just stood out for me in the Kudoz list because I had been reading about it and thought I could help you with it. It's totally fine with me if you indicate 'answer found elsewhere'.

Example sentence(s):
  • UCL: Fees are normally quoted at the full-time rate, except where the programme is offered part-time or modular/flexible only. Fees for part-time or modular study are normally charged pro-rata to the appropriate full-time Master's fee taken in an academic
  • University of Reading: Our flexible study options also enable you to spread the cost over the extended duration of your course, with fees charged on a module by module basis.

Asker: Hi, Fiona: thx for the feedback. Whereas this is true, our colleague Barend van Zadelhoff already tipped me off to this solution. It's my fault: I should have indicated that I had found the answer elsewhere. So what should I do: grant you the points or indicated 'answer found elsewhere'?

Asker: Perfect, Fiona. I've accidentally gifted you the points, but in fairness to Barend I'll get the monitors to negate that. Cheers, R.
