I am doing a translation about a game development kit, and got stuck in the word "poortpen". Context is the following:

De debug-indicator is niet meer dan een LED die tijdens
debuggen gebruikt kan worden, bijvoorbeeld als teken dat
een bepaalde programmalus doorlopen is. Een beetje primitieve en ouderwetse manier van debuggen, maar de huidige ontwikkelomgeving van de chip ondersteunt helaas (nog) geen andere vorm van debugging. Toch is dit in veel gevallen voldoende om verder te komen als er problemen zijn in de software. De LED wordt gestuurd door een ***poortpen*** van de processor en de gebruiker kan deze op elke gewenste plaats in een applicatie in- en uitschakelen.

The translation is into Spanish and Catalan but I hope the English translation might help me get on the right track. Otherwise an explanation of its meaning in Dutch is also very welcome.
