What I have for this is - "XXX is a headquarters and performs operations in the air freight chain. Seems a bit off though to me..

I would state: "XXX serves as a headquarters and ... "

Since you mentioned aviation, "hoofdvestiging" could possibly be referring to a "main hub". I'm not sure so, take your pick.

Also "werkzaamheden verrichten" need not be translated verbatum. It is better understood as one single concept: "to operate (as in a business)". The nuance here is: Businesses operate; Doctor's "perform" operations. Don't get your idiom twisted.

Lastly "luchtvrachtketen" is industry specific. It is not just an "air cargo chain" or "air freight chain", as you might see on many Dunglish sites. It is rather a supply chain (or transport chain). Cargo vs. freight and supply vs. transport is no matter, but you may find "air cargo supply chain" to appear more frequently.
