molting Explanation: Can also be spelled Moulting, or to molt (moult). This is the term usually applied to birds when they drop feathers as part of their development. I see this every year in a flock of Canadian geese as they shed or molt their baby feathers and soon, within maybe two months, look just like their parents. (I agree with Christine, that it's a misspelling or typo) |
