supports Explanation: Helen, don't worry if you can't figure that one out, it is just bad Danish. Probably comes from mixing "støtte" and "bakke op". Next it will likely be "støtter op omkring". My poor mother tongue! |

support Explanation: In my humble opinion, it's a good example of bad Danish. Besides perhaps providing emphasis, the words "op om" have no meaning. This is one of the expressions (like "bakke op om", which I also dislike) uttered by politicians and newsreaders and then copied endless until acceptance by the Danish Language Authority (just had to let that out, sorry :-). -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 19 mins (2006-05-07 13:33:50 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- ...endlessly... |
