Czech term or phrase: vyplňovat dětské doplňovačky
In a Czech report for special education pupil, discusses how to help the child learn:

"hrát slovní hry Scrable, Kris-kros, slovní kopanou, šibenici, vyplňovat dětské doplňovačky atd."

I understand all except the last three words. Would appreciate suggestions on translating this into English.

Thanks,

Stephen

Thanks, Peter.

I used your suggestion but as "fill in the blanks quizzes". That is what we call it in my area, although most of the suggestions by others are also helpful.

fill-in-the-gaps activities for children

Explanation:
Hi Stephen,
the word "doplňovačka" suggests any activity that requires filling in the gaps.

"Etc." can be translated as "and such like".

I hope this helps.

Explanation:
I think it is safe to be fairly generic here but it needs to sound English enough for the reader to know what you mean, and if you look at the images for doplňovačky on google, you will see multitudes of images.

solve word puzzles (for children)

Explanation:
The "for children" seems largely redundant here. Clearly the entire context of your text regards children.

Example sentence(s):
  • Big Box of Little Word Puzzles (Ages 4+/Special Learners)

agree  Linda Wood: to me, 'solve word puzzles' sounds very natural. Or perhaps "solve children's word puzzles".
