I think the medical professionals should make consideration for the readers of their writings, Some are laymen. Therefore they should not use too many acronyms and short abbreviation which are very difficult for people outside the medical world to decipher. They should only use whole complete words and phrases.
The current practices of using acronym is very annoying from the perspective laymen being the reader. For example, in this case, they should not use the term AP. They should type the whole word. At least, I think so.
