Nema jedinstvenog resenja za dabogda. Npr. "Dabogda crko" moze se prevesti kao "I wish you were dead", "God damn you", "Damn you" ili "May you rot in Hell" - or worse!

"Dabogda" je otprilike ekvivalent za "I wish" ili "May", pa onda sledi sta sledi...

Cesto u B/C/S radni glagolski pridev predstavlja ekvivalent za subjunctive u eng. (Crko dabogda - I wish you were dead; Ziveo kralj - Long live the king).

I would rather write it in three words: "Da Bog da..." than in one word "dabogda"

Dabogda / Da Bog da is often used for curses, but not always;

For example, if someone tells you: \"Situacija ce se poboljsati\", you can answer: \"Dabogda / Da Bog da.\" (pronounce: \"da Bôg da\").

Another example, you can also say to someone: \"Da Bog da me nadzivio\", in this case it is not a curse anymore, it becomes a wish.

Etc.

I think you can write it both ways, but I prefer in three words (da Bog da = Neka Bog da).

neutral  Pavle Perencevic: Dabogda is exclusively used for curses - never for good wishes. You'll never hear anything like "Dabogda ziveo u sreci i veselju" ;) Is it really three words in Bosnian? Saide, zaista si u pravu za dabogda. Ne koristi se samo za kletve. Pozdrav :)

disagree  Maida Berbic: Ne slazem se jer reci na engl. "May God give you death' nije nesto sto se koristi u svakodnev. govoru, a to je ono sto se trazi ovdje. Tako nesto bi rekao neko ko zaista i to duboko emotivno zeli zlo nekom drugom (ponavljam, na engl. jeziku).

  -> Zavisi od kntksta. Npr. "masallah" se cesto koristi na bosan., sto bi na engleskom bilo "with the grace of God", mada se taj izraz ne koristi u svakodnev. govoru na engl. Naravno "dabogda crko" se moze prevesti na vise nacina, npr. "For God sake, DIE!"itd
