Explanation:
Often, native English speakers refer to Arab countries west of Egypt and Sudan as "The Maghreb". Much to the same affect as Syria and Lebanon often being referred to as the Levant.
That said, one can broadly used "the maghreb" as adapted from Arabic, or refer to this region equally as northwestern arab-african countries, seeing as they are both in africa, but also (largely) Arabic-speaking.
