Sooner or later, "real" tasks will evolve out of this project. This is the place to form teams and to discuss how to share the work.

Hi Marion,
I am willing to take on the job of "Secretary" unless someone else feels they really like to do it.

Volunteers needed: Tasks are evolving, teams are being built... Dec 12, 2004

- Language pairs: Eleftheria and Francina are already discussing the task of gathering and listing the language pairs offered by fellow translators.

- Web site: Monika Coulson, Linda (LiMaBi) and Natalya Zelikova have all offered to design and program the web site. That's simply wonderful and we'll have to discuss in due course who will do what when we know what we need from a technical side of view. By the way, I personally don't like frames in a web site...

- Keeping track of the discussion: I believe we will need several colleagues who keep track of the discussions and sum them up whenever there is someting to sum up. We already have several topics that are somehow related to each other and it would make sense to assign one person for each "bundle" of topics.

- Technical forum issues: as mentioned in the basic guidelines, I think we should consider creating sub-threads - either for topics to come or even retroactive for the existing forum.

Any volunteers on board?

volunteer for keeping track of some discussions Dec 13, 2004

I could keep track of one "bundle" of topics and summarize the overall situation, past resolutions, continuing debates and ongoing work, etc. periodically. It doesn't really matter which "bundle" I'll keep track of, but a topic like "legal matters" is best tracked by people with more interest in this field - legal intricacies is not my cup of tea.

balaban: choose your bundle! Dec 13, 2004

Very happy to see you back here, Balaban! I perfectly understand that keeping track of the legal issues should be done by someone who has a faible for it. Why don't you just choose one or several related topics you would like to do? First come - first serve!

marion keeps track of naming and web site Dec 13, 2004

OK, unless someone else wants to keep track of these two topics - and for the time being - I will keep track of "naming" and "web site" and will sum them up whenever the need arises.

Hi there! Dec 13, 2004

If possible I could manage to keep track of the "collecting material" matter.
Anybody wants to share this task with me?

me too. Coordination, collection, translation Dec 13, 2004

I could help also as a project coordinator. Contacting our translators, sending and receiving texts.

I may also have a good contact for some French local stuff. My aunt is a doctor in 2 Parisian children's hospitals. She also does children's research on rare genetic diseases affecting the kidneys.

Once we've decided what types of children's works we want, I can ask her if it would be possible to collect them.

And if needed, I can translate them into Englis

"bundle" to be tracked: "Advertising the project: other means" Dec 14, 2004

I chose my bundle.

Apart from one message with very good ideas, this topic is not exactly bursting with messages right now. But as soon as we launch the web site, we can (and should) start asking promotional support from people everywhere. In fact, we would do good to develop a strategy in this field before that stage. We will have to use a variety of tools and some of them possibly will require time to be effective.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, we need a world wide

Please correct me if I'm wrong, we need a world wide outreach not only to contact charities and potential volunteers initially but also to make the book known (and sold) in the final stage, don't we?

I'll contribute to the discussion there and I'll summarize resolutions, continuing debates and ongoing work, etc. periodically. I'm always open to sharing this task...

Thank you very much, Balaban! And you are absolutely right: We will need a truly world wide outreach in every respect of this project. That may sound difficult or even impossible to some of you, but believe me - it's not. I am more convinced than ever that we can do it.
