I would appreciate if somebody could help me clarify what these jobs mean in the subtitling industry:
1) Conform with linguistic QC- is it to perform a regular QC on a previously translated video? 2) FN origination work - Are you expected to translate just the text overlays or the whole video?

Hola Liliane Please let me start the explanation by quoting your questions. 1) Confirm with linguistic QC- is it to perform a regular QC on a previously translated video? QC of subtitling mostly means making better synchronization. Quality checking of the previous content of subtitles is important too. But if you change the previous subtitles too much, you might need to adjust timing(=synchronization) all over again which takes so long time. So I recommend you use most of your time for better(if possible best) synchronization of subtitles.

But occasionally, you may have to put the explanation for what happens in the video scene(the whole video). I think the following source can be a good help for you. https://www.3playmedia.com/2017/12/08/what-are-forced-narrative-subtitles/
I wish you finish your project nice and smart. ▲ Collapse
