Dear colleagues,

Social media websites are one of the most effective and exciting new marketing tools for small businesses.

Well, I meant to invite you here to join my FB page, but it looks like FB is on the blink again. I will try to sort it out tomorrow so hopefully the page will be up and running soon.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Kasia

I agree. Nov 17, 2011

I agree with you on the fact that social media are excellent tools for advertising and marketing your business. I find them quite effective if you constantly build up your network. They should never be neglected.

Keeping up with the rest Nov 17, 2011

Hokyun,

Thank you so much for such a positive response. Social media are growing giants and they have forever changed the way the world does business! An online presence is now essential or you get left behind. I only wish FB didn't change its features at such a rapid speed. It's really hard to keep up if you're not a tech head!

It depends Nov 17, 2011

The efficacy of social networks in marketing really depends on who you cater to and what services you offer. For example, if you do highly specialized translations and your principal clients are big corporations, this channel will be of little value, if any.

From my experience (26 years in the translation industry, including 11 years as an independent entrepreneur), the most effective marketing tool is simply keeping your clients highly satisfied, in which case they recommend you to

Thank you for your feedback, Anton.

I agree that keeping the clients happy is a number one priority. And nothing works better than word of mouth advertising. Social media now offer the opportunity to take it even further. Simply by interacting with you on FB, your satisfied clients are able to show they value your work. They also get a chance to see the human side of your business. Only here in Australia, nearly 3/4 of businesses are now allocating 10% of their marketing budget toward social media and they are using them as a customer relationship tool rather than just marketing. I strongly believe social media is the future!

Thanks again for your comments and good luck with your work.

It took me a few hours to wrap my head around it... but yes, I have finally managed to successfully restore my FB Page (yep, that's right, with a capital "P"). If you are interested in discussing language-related issues and/or social media advertising, you are welcome to join me at Slobodzian Language Solutions.

Looking forward to meeting you!
