By pure coincidence, I just typed the last word of a 6k-document exactly as the last chord rang from the album I was listening to.

What's your silly magic moment?

What will you listen to while you proofread your work though?

The text I am proofing, read by TextAloud. I listen to the target while keeping my eyes on the source (1st proofreading run), then again the same readout while keeping my eyes on the target itself (2nd proofreading run).

Haven't found a way to incorporate music in the proofreading phase yet...

Taking it home Jun 6, 2018

Ha ha of course I didn't do all 6k on the same album. I am not THAT fast...

Anyway, it was Joe Ely's "Live at Liberty Lunch". The last track is "If You Were a Bluebird", and the last verse goes like this:

"
If I was a highway, I'd be stretching
I'd be fetching you home
"

... and it DID take me home!

It's all about timing! Jun 6, 2018

By pure coincidence, it happened a couple of times that I pressed the "Print" button at the very moment a client rang the door bell, "just passing by". Don't know why, but it was like they just won the lottery!

On the "silly no so magic moments" side (and I don't know if I should, but hey! you started it!) did you ever notice that the best way to get a client to call you back is to go to the bathroom?

Are you referring to the cute cats or the outrageous number of monitors?!

ah yes! and the best way to have a client remember your existence is to get to the point where you just can't take any more work on. I often get the impression they have meetings behind my back to synchronise their requests!

Silly musical moment Jun 7, 2018

I just finished translating a contract, and was listening to "Killing Machine" by Judas Priest.
One of the lines in that song's chorus is "I've got a contract on you".

It isn't particularly relevant, it was just fun.

And you turned into a bluebird flying off to... new projects.
