Horrible Nov 27, 2015

It's obvious what this is: phonetically translated into something approximating to the quasi "American English" as pronounced by a Swedish group trying to sing in English.

The choice of songs is horrible. Clearly the parents have picked out some bubble gum music from their own childhood, rather than songs that might please the children themselves.

I'm just glad I won't be there !!!

Been there - difficult situation Nov 27, 2015

But for various reasons I've decided to keep my head down.

These include: not embarrassing the poor soul who spent a long time producing the transciption, and not embarrassing the hell out of my children by wading in.

Mothers should keep their mouths shut according to my two! And I know that I make them suffer and squirm on occasion.

It is hard to know what to do when you (and your kids!) clearly know so much more about the subject than the poor teacher. I alternated between sympathy for the teacher just trying to do her job and outrage at the fact that, among many other things, she told my son off for insisting that her pronunciation of moped, the motor vehicle with pedals, was wrong.

Don't they always, Tom?

We did not imagine it had anything to do with real languages, but actually preferred the songs we could understand.

Then there was Guantanamera, which my son's class sang in Danish as

Toms karameller
Vi vil ha' Toms karameller
Toms chokolaa-a-a-a-a-a-de ...

And surely anyone can understand that much Danish!
