Does anyone know how to search for Hebrew acronyms using " in Google?
At the moment, it treats these " as quote marks...
I mean searching terms such as:
צה"ל

Thanks, Doron

Hi Doron, Oct 1, 2007

I can't help you with this specific question, but there's a great site I use for acronyms, which Pnina posted months ago: www.kizur.co.il

מזל טוב on the contest!

Nice pointers, but... Oct 1, 2007

I'm still at a loss regarding that " thingie.

Thanks, Beky - I couldn't find the answer to that question there (though I find your forum interesting!)

Thanks, Juliana, also for the greeting. Next time we'll have 12 Hebrew competitors!

Maybe there's simply no Google way of doing that.

Doron

And the winner is... Oct 2, 2007

I did some testing, and here are the results:

Google does show results containing your specific acronym first. Only then does it provide all sorts of funny combinations thereof.

I was looking for some obscure IDF acronym (aren't most?) and so got one or two good results followed by the 'funnies'.

So just use the actual acronym (no need for the back slash, Sue, but thanks!) and pray to Gooddle.
