During this period, I have translated numerous scientific abstracts and articles, such as the Brazilian issues of the Journal Watch series (a s...eries of newsletters from the publishers of The New England Journal of Medicine). I was also responsible for the technical review of the 2010 edition of Netter Internal Medicine and the 2008 edition of The Little Black Book of Neurology, both published by Elsevier. I have also worked as a co-investigator in large clinical trials such as PERFORM (on terutroban, an antiplatelet drug) and TRANSFORMS (on fingolimod, recently approved for multiple sclerosis) and as an internal medical reviewer for a pharmaceutical company. Working as a medical reviewer, I was responsible for the internal validation of the translations of clinical protocols, investigator's brochures and other important technical and regulatory documents, a job with strict deadlines and an absolute need of accuracy. During those years, I enjoyed the opportunity of fulfilling many positions, which enabled me to broaden my profe...ssional spectrum, and hold roles that involved complex administrative support; proofreading, editing and reviewing of shorthand notes of official proceedings of the Federal Court of Appeals, and parliamentary speeches, discussion, and voting sessions of the Senate. For 11 years, I worked at the General Secretariat of Senate Board and was responsible for the preparation and revision of official documents for the follow-up on Legislative processes and procedures. I was also appointed Secretary to several Senate Commissions and Committees. Another reward as a civil servant was my appointment as the coordinator and administrator of long-distance courses sponsored by Brazilian Legislative Institute (ILB), an institution of the Brazilian Senate, where I ended a long and gratifying career within the Brazilian Public Administration. I graduated in Business Administration at Brasilia University. Because of my personal interest in foreign languages, I have dedicated part of my off-duty time in the past 18 years to the translation works of English, German and French languages into Portuguese and took up a post-graduation course in English-Portuguese/Portuguese-English Translation at Gama Filho University, and a Special Intensive Translation Course in Film Subtitling at Pontifícia Universidade Católica, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I am fluent in the three languages. As freelance translator I have been working for the German and the Austrian Embassies in Brazil, and for other foreign governmental institutions, translation agencies and book publishers.
