I've been working on a project (my favorite) since 2009 where I do the Korean-English translation for a vendor in Korea and the Korean-German translation for a different vendor in Germany. About two years ago, I sent the German translation to the Korean vendor, oops. It took them 2 weeks to notice, though ^^; | | |

Hmm, I've literally just done exactly that. Oh well, at least this time I have someone else to blame. I think it would be hard to spend many years in a profession and not make the occasional mistake. I once sent an email to the wrong Anastasia. I was in contact with two at the time. The Russian colloquial form of Anastasia is Nastya, and I thought of them as the Nicer Nastya and the Nastier Nastya. The Nicer Nastya had a novel she wanted translated, but it didn't come to anything in the end. So did the Nastier Nastya, but she wanted a literal word-for-word translation that would have been very poor English, so I turned it down. When I worked in-house, my favourite mistake was to send the source file instead of the target as I was juggling with a phone call and desperately trying to get out of the office in time to catch my bus home. On one occasion I missed the bus and came back to use the phone (before I had a mobile!), and found my colleagues trying to remember my password to start my computer and send the right one. I have done that several times since, and made a habit of always opening th... I've occasionally sent the wrong invoice - possibly because so many clients use email addresses starting with "info@something", my system enters the wrong one and I don't notice. Or, like others here, I've sent the source file instead of the translation. This happens because some clients insist that the name of the file containing the translation must be the same as the name of the source file. Both situations are mildly embarrassing/annoying, but soon rectified. | | |
