I check my email every hour during the week and morning and evening during the weekend and some messages are either answered immediately (new assignments from regular clients or potential jobs from new clients) or deleted immediately (mass emails, spam…).

I am more often than not sitting at my computer (working, playing games, browsing etc.) and I immediately check any emails that come in and usually answer them at once, but may delay doing so if I’m in the middle of something urgent and/or requiring much concentration. When not at the computer I check the email probably about once an hour on average, but not keeping to a strict rule. When not at the computer I check the email probably about once an hour on average, but not keeping to a strict rule. I don’t have a smartphone, and though my small clamshell mobile phone could receive emails, I don’t have it set up to do so. When away from home overnight or on holiday, I take a laptop with me and check it occasionally but only to refuse any work offers that might come in unless they can be postponed till after my return. Fortunately I am not so desperate for work that I have to clutch at every straw, and I don’t want my life to be completely taken over by it.Collapse

As I'm working all day at my computer, I check emails as soon as they arrive, but there are different kinds of work-related emails, so there are different approaches too.

To emails sent directly to me with work proposals, I try to answer as soon as they arrive, to accept or refuse these proposals.

To mass emails, I answer only when I'm interested on job proposed. Otherwise, I just delete them.

To other kinds of work-related emails (profile update, agreement

Usually, yes May 7, 2017

My Outlook is on 24/7, so all e-mails are received immediately, and I get a little ring in my speakers. However, checking them immediately depends on how concentrated I am on the current task, and if I'm sitting by the desk, of course.

When I have no work, I do reply immediately.
