Înscriindu-se în efortul conjugat al timpului de a scoate la lumina tiparului acest gen de poezie, de a oferi tuturor aceste cronici din timpul primului război mondial, şi care altfel s-ar fi pierdut în anonimat, dr. X, profesor universitar la Praga, reuşeşte, în 1915, să publice la X, la editura tipografiei „X” X, o culegere de cântece de război, scrise de ţăranii români participanţi la lupte în oastea cezaro-crăiască, poezii „de dor şi jele”, culese în tot cursul anilor X-X de un “prieten al cătanelor”.

Examples include Deor’s Lament, an early Anglo-Saxon poem, in which a minstrel regrets his change of status in relation to his patron, and the ancient Sumerian “Lament for the Destruction of Ur.” Compare complaint; elegy.

evident nu este "perfect match" :) asa cum nu se poate traduce "doina" nici "dorul si jelea" nu sunt 100% traductibile din cauza diferentelor culturale
dar mi se pare a fi termenul cel mai apropiat ca sens
