Dutch term

uitwinningsvergoeding

Dutch to English Other Law: Contract(s) Handelsagentuur
Na beeindiging van de handelsagentuur heeft de handelsagent recht op een uitwinningsvergoeding van 12 maanden wanneer hij tijdens de overeenkomst nieuwe klanten heeft aangebracht.

I think it has to do with a compensation for losing the commission that you would otherwise have made if your trade representation had not terminated. Is there a good English word?

indemnity / goodwill indemnity

As far as I can recall this is the usual jargon used in this context.

compensation for loss of ... / compensation on termination of

A tricky area - I hope these references help:

"Compensation for Loss of Agency Rights Includes Goodwill
The impact of European legislation has meant that for over a decade, commercial agents have been entitled to seek compensation for the losses they suffer when the principal terminates their agency agreement."

"Lonsdale clarifies (often contradictory) guidance on how compensation on termination of the agency relationship is assessed under the Regulations. It marks a move away from the French courts’ approach, which broadly sets compensation at two years’ gross commission, subject to adjustment in light of the circumstances of each case."
