Dutch term

sperperiode

Dutch to English Other Education / Pedagogy
Typical Belgian term apparently. I understand what it is, am just looking for an English equivalent, if one exists.
Context:
De sperperiode, de zes weken voor de zomer- en wintersale en de maand erna, is een typisch Belgische aangelegenheid. De Belgische wetgeving staat in die periode slechts zeer beperkte communicatie over prijsaanbiedingen en acties toe.
I would imagine it would be something like 'advertising restriction' ? Thanks in advance for your help.

restriction on (announcing/advertising) special offers/price reductions

there is no general advertising ban. but shops are not allowed to reduce prices or make special offers or advertise them during a certain period before the sales start. Everyone has to start their sale at the same time. They can't show marked down products in the shops either.
Whether everyone sticks to this is another question.

agree Tina Vonhof (X) : Longer than 'advertising restriction' but a little explanation is probably helpful.
