Im Bereich der vormals bestehenden singularen, ossaren Metastase im Os pubis rechts findet sich eine kleine, flaue Mehrspeicher-Sklerosierung ohne FDG-Speicherung als Residualbefund.

What would the correct translation of Mehrspeicher be in this context? Thanks in advance!

Ja, ich sehe das ebenso wie uyuni. Das Problem ist hier "ohne FDG-Speicherung". Es kann sein, dass es keine Ablagerung zeigt, dann ist es auch nicht malign. Und wenn es doch malign ist, aber der Text sich auf eine zeitlich verschobene Begutachtung bezieht, ist der Marker schon wieder weg... Das ist der Knackpunkt. Man kann nicht 100% bestimmen, was damit gemeint ist.

I assume that in comparison to the prior finding(s) there is a certain (lower) amount of nuclide uptake in the os pubis (formerly the metastasis, now a mere sclerotic lesion/zone) but not a nuclide accumulation of 18-FDG that matches/indicates progression, needless to say it's not a so-called 'hot spot'. A mere presumption, however, which does not solve the inherent contradiction in the original text...

Ja, ja, schon... Aber wie du unten selbst angemerkt hast: nicht ganz zweifelsfrei die Deutung von Sklerosierung und keiner FDG-Speicherung. Ich versuche das nur zeitlich einzuordnen. Mehr nicht.

Es existiert also durchaus ein Vorbefund.

I think you need to include "sclerotic" in your translation.

Also, an area with increased uptake is also called a "hot spot" on PET. If your target audience are healthcare professionals, you can safely use it. Otherwise, you can say

1. sclerotic lesion with an increased-uptake pattern, or
2. sclerotic lesion with increased uptake ("hot spot"), or
2. sclerotic lesion with increased uptake/metabolism


Increased update indicated increased metabolism, which make the spot "hot" and suspicious for malignancy.
