French term

visite d'information et de prévention (vip)

French to English Medical Human Resources
Comes up in HR documentation. This medical examination is scheduled a few months after the employee was hired.
VIP replaces the old "visite médicale d'embauche" = hiring medical examination.

hiring medical examination

If you are happy with your translation of the old French name for it, I see no need to translate it any differently just because the French have changed the name.

After all, a government site says that the Visite d'information et de prévention est un examen médical réalisé par un professionnel de santé du travail (par exemple, un collaborateur médecin du travail, un interne en médecine du travail, un infirmier) si le salarié ne présente pas de risques particuliers.
Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : Maybe post-hiring, since it's a few months later.

neutral SafeTex : But isn't that what it used to be called, and not what it is now?

new employee's medical examination

The term 'hiring' as a simple modifier is problematic, potentially suggesting that the medical examination takes place as part of the hiring process (such is the case in the armed forces). My suggestion eliminates any doubts as to whether the person has been fully admitted as an employee.

(post-recruitment) fact-finding and preventative healthcare medical

Better leave out the vip abbreviation in case mixed up with a very important person - though the employee may well be.

Otherwise, nowt or nought wrong with a more literal translation.
Example sentence:

France offers preventative care for all, including free medical checkups every two years.
